FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions
HOW MUCH SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY BEFORE TAKING THE TOUR?
The photo tour is open to any photo-enthusiast. From beginners to experienced photographers, citifarers have enjoyed the unique vantage points chosen for the tour. If you need it, our photographer guides will help you with the techniques required for specific pictures.

HOW LONG DOES THE TOUR LAST?
On average a photo tour lasts 2-1/2 hours. However, since we provide specific individualized advice in order for you to get the most of your tour, depending on the group it can last as long as 3 hours.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Besides your camera and its accessories, there is no need for any special photo equipment. We recommend that you bring both an extra battery and memory card. Your standard zoom lens is sufficient for most of the shots, and, while not necessary you could also enjoy the views with a wide angle lens.

We will be walking approximately 2 miles and most of the photo tour is located outside. Wear appropriate gear according to the weather (hat, sunscreen, etc...) and good shoes. Guests are advised to bring their own snacks and drinks. Although we won’t be making specific stops, these can also be purchased from the many food carts that we’ll pass.

I AM NOT THE PHOTOGRAPHER, SHOULD I TAKE A TICKET?
There is no fee for coming along with a photographer to the tour and not shooting pictures. Accompanying non-photographer can buy a  nominal fee.

HOW LARGE IS THE GROUP?
In order to offer you the best experience, we limit the size of the groups to 10 people. Please contact us at info@citifari.com for us to customize your photo tour for other group sizes.

WHAT TIMES AND DATES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE TOUR?
We offer many tours per week, the starting times vary depending on the tour and the season.
Please check our calendar for availability.

WHAT HAPPENS IN CASE OF RAIN OR POOR WEATHER?
We got some excellent shots under rain, snow or other difficult weather conditions. The tours generally occur 'rain or shine' and our guide will be waiting for you at the start of the tour. Dress accordingly and bring an umbrella!

We do not have a 'reschedule' policy but check with us enough time before the tour and we might be able to accomodate.

In some extreme cases, we have had to cancel the tours and we will employ all our efforts to contact you with as much notice as possible. We will then offer you a full refund or a 'reschedule' option.

WHERE DO WE MEET?
  • Our landmarks photo safari starts next to B&H Photo, at the corner of 34th street and 9th avenue
  • The Central Park photo tour starts next to the General Sherman's statue, at the Southeast corner of the park on 59th st. and 5th av.
  • The citifari SOHO tour meets at the Angelika Theater, at the corner of Houston and Mercer streets.
  • For the night tour we meet at the north east corner of 43rd st. and 2nd avenue.

HOW YOUNG IS TOO YOUNG?
The tour lasts at least 2-1/2 hours. You know your children better than us: will they remain focused for the whole time? Will they be able to follow a tour designed with adults in mind? We have had great experiences with children as young as 12, and we ask that an adult to be responsible for early photographers 15 and younger. The accompanying adult does not need to pay for the tour as long as he/she is not taking the tour's pictures.
